Endorsement Calls Marano One of the “Champions for the Working People and Union Members of This State”
32BJ of the Service Employees International Union, with 13,000 members in New Jersey, endorsed former Green Brook Mayor Melonie Marano for Somerset County Freeholder. Marano is the sole challenger Freeholder candidate to receive the 2019 endorsement from the union.
“Getting the endorsement of 32BJ SEIU shows that our campaign is about ensuring Somerset County’s government works for everyone and not just the Republican cronies,” said Marano. “I’m proud to stand with the SEIU, and to commit to using my position as Somerset County Freeholder to expand economic and job opportunities throughout the county.”
“We are proud to endorse these candidates who will be champions for the working people and union members of this state,” said Kevin Brown, 32BJ SEIU Vice President and New Jersey State Director. “With these candidates on our side, we are optimistic that we can create a New Jersey that works for all—not just the wealthy few. We are committed to working hard to elect these candidates who will stand up for working families, the backbone of our economy, and look forward to having them in office.”
Including its 13,000 members in New Jersey, 32BJ has 175,000 members in 12 states and Washington D.C. making it the largest property services union in the country.
32BJ SEIU joins the AFL-CIO Middlesex-Somerset Central Labor Council in endorsing Marano.
